Everyone that I know has at one point or another in their life experienced a time when the circumstances that they were facing appeared to be more than they could bear. It happens to all of us. Continue reading “Help In Time of Need”

Progress Report

A lot has been accomplished in the last 3 days. Bible Reading material is loaded that will cover through the first week in June. This part of the work is tedious, but I’m sure it will be well worth the effort. Kenny G is keeping me relaxed while I work.

I apologize for the ads. It appears I have met the quota for pages that triggered the “add ads” option. Right now I don’t have to pay anything to use WordPress to publish Word for the Way. The ads will only be removed when I choose to start on one of their pay plan options.  I will do this in due time, just not today.

Closing in on W4tW Launch Date

The launch date for the Word for the Way blog/podcast is December 30th. The closer it gets the more excited I get. I’ve been spending a lot of time lately entering in data for the King James version of the Bible.

The purpose of the blog is to give folks a daily dose of God’s Word, the Bible. One of the ways I intend to do this is to encourage everyone to read their Bible each day. The Bible reading program that will be presented will guide the individual to read the Bible completely through in the year. This can be accomplished if the reader will spend approximately 20 minutes each day reading the Bible. W4tW will have a daily blog with the correct amount of scripture pre-printed to assist in this goal. The first Bible reading blog will post on January 1st.

I have read the Bible through each year for several years now and each year it has proven to be a blessing to me. I can’t wait to get started again this year. I hope you will plan to join me.

“One podcast, coming right up!”

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_ef2
Take #15!! Naw! It’s not really that bad. I do need to give myself a break though, and admit that it’s not actually going to be perfect!

The podcast is coming along. I’ve got all the sound settings where I want them. Now I just have to get a take that I like. I’m looking for a 3–5 minute time frame for the podcast.

I’m pretty sure that I will be able to blog and podcast at least on a weekly basis. When I say blog, I’m speaking of the weekly article I will be writing to feature on the Sunday W4tW blogs. I’m not counting the short daily blogs that I will be doing… like this one.

We’re moving right along!!

Screen Shot 2018-12-05 at 10.00.55 PM

I made a lot of progress yesterday on the Word for the Way site:

The site now has a side bar menu which includes buttons for Archives, Categories, the Main Menu, and a Follow button which will allow readers to subscribe to the blog.

And… wait for it… I recorded the December 30th blog. Yep, we may be complimenting the W4tW Blog with a weekly podcast! I’ve still got a lot of work to do before that becomes a reality but we’re headed in that direction. I used Logic Pro on my iMac to record it and (in my opinion) it sounds pretty good. That being said, I will probably re-record it before we actually put it out for public consumption. LOL! If everything goes right between now and then, on December 30th we may be podcasting as well as blogging. (Prayers appreciated.)

The further I travel down this road, the more I see that can be done to make Word for the Way a really great blog.

A Few Less Items on My Bucket List

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_eef

I didnt get to do much on the Word for the Way site Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. I did get some things done yesterday, however.

  1. I located and uploaded the graphics for the January 6th blog.
  2. I uploaded the article for that same blog and got it scheduled to publish. That’s done!
  3. I uploaded the 4 most recent Lighthouse Newsletters that I published and got them added to the Main Menu so my readers can access them. I could upload all of 2018’s newsletters, but I’m not sure anyone would want to read stuff that’s a year old. (If you have an opinion about this either way, please leave a comment below.)
  4. I got some reading done in WordPress All-in-one for Dummies. I’m learning more and more about this thing they call blogging.  Hopefully, it will allow me to add some extra features to my site — stuff that will make it easier to access and more enjoyable to read.

So far, so good!

It’s Christmas!!

I want to give everyone a special invitation to join me at the Christmas Program that is taking place this Sunday, December 9th, at Lighthouse Church. The address is 1435 Old Humboldt Road, Jackson, TN 38308. The fun starts at 2pm.

It will be a fantastic time of celebration and singing that you don’t want to miss. I look forward to seeing you there!

Slowly But Surely…

IMG_8783

I only got to work 4 hours on the site yesterday.

I added a few navigational tweaks to the Bible Reading pages and got those and the Welcome Page added to the Main Menu.

I also got the first “official” Word for the Way blog post written and formatted. It’s scheduled for December 30th — the Grand Opening of the site. I hope you come by and check it out.

I’m relying on this book, WordPress All-In-One for Dummies, to guide me on this portion of the journey. (With me representing the “dummies”, of course.)

I just do what I can. When I reach a spot where I can’t get it to do what I want, I go to the book. This may not be the best use of it, but it’s seems to be working for me.
