Epiphanies in Life!

As I begin this article, it is late-November, in West Tennessee where I live. That means the temperatures are getting cooler and the leaves on the trees are changing from their summer green to the beautiful gold, orange, and red colors that I enjoy so much during this season. It’s not long after changing colors that the leaves begin to do something else that only happens during this time of year. Not only do they turn colors, they also turn loose! Parents, what will you pass down?

To me, this is an amazing photo. My daughter-in-law was playing the piano when her son, Milo, wanted to help. Someone recorded this moment in history by taking this wonderful photograph. In the photo you see the experienced hand of a mother and the young, inexperienced hands of her son.

Milo had a wonderful time learning that pressing (and at times hitting) the keys resulted in wonderful sounds coming from inside the piano. I have to be honest here. It didn’t always sound wonderful to my trained ear, but you get the point. I could tell by the smile on his face that he thought it sounded wonderful–and that’s what counts. Never Focus on the Fog

In 1952, thirty-one year old Florence Chadwick stepped into the chilly waters of the Pacific Ocean to start the 26 mile swim from Catalina Island to the California coastline. This was an attempt to become the first woman to swim across this vast expanse of ocean.  She was flanked by small boats whose occupants kept an eye out for sharks and were ready to come to her rescue should she be injured or should she grow weary and unable to continue the strenuous journey.
