Orgullo y Humildad

Santiago 4:1-17 (NVI)

El Orgullo Promueve El Conflicto
1 ¿De dónde vienen las guerras, y los pleitos entre vosotros? De aquí, es decir de vuestras concupiscencias, las cuales batallan en vuestros miembros.
2 Codiciáis, y no tenéis; matáis y tenéis envidia, y no podéis alcanzar; combatís y guerreáis, y no tenéis lo que deseáis, porque no pedís.
3 Pedís, y no recibís; porque pedís mal, para gastar en vuestros deleites.
4 Adúlteros, y adúlteras, ¿no sabéis que la amistad del mundo es enemistad con Dios? Cualquiera pues que quisiere ser amigo del mundo, se constituye en enemigo de Dios.
5 ¿Pensáis que la Escritura lo dice sin causa, el Espíritu que mora en vosotros codicia para envidia?
6 Mas él da mayor gracia. Por esto él dice: Dios resiste a los soberbios, y da la gracia a los humildes.

La Humildad Cura La Mundanalidad
7 Estad pues sujetos a Dios; resistid al diablo, y huirá de vosotros.
8 Allegaos a Dios, y él se allegará a vosotros. Pecadores, limpiad las manos; y vosotros los de doble ánimo, purificad los corazones.
9 Afligíos, y lamentad, y llorad. Vuestra risa se convierta en lloro, y vuestro gozo en tristeza.
10 Humillaos delante de la presencia del Señor, y él os ensalzará.

No Juzgues a Un Hermano
11 Hermanos, no murmuréis los unos de los otros; el que murmura del hermano, y juzga a su hermano, este tal murmura de la Ley, y juzga a la Ley; y si tú juzgas a la Ley, no eres guardador de la Ley, sino juez.
12 Uno es el dador de la Ley, que puede salvar y perder, ¿quién eres tú que juzgas a otro?

No Te Jactes de Mañana
13 Ea, ahora, los que decís: Vamos hoy y mañana a tal ciudad, y estaremos allá un año y compraremos mercadería, y ganaremos;
14 y no sabéis lo que será mañana. Porque ¿qué es vuestra vida? Ciertamente es un vapor que se aparece por un poco de tiempo, y después se desvanece.
15 En lugar de lo cual deberíais decir: Si el Señor quisiere, y si viviéremos, haremos esto, o aquello.
16 Mas ahora os gloriáis en vuestras soberbias. Toda gloria semejante es mala.

17 El pecado pues está todavía en aquel que sabe hacer lo bueno, y no lo hace.

Greatness Is Found In Serving Others

Matthew 20:20-28 (NKJV)
20 Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Him with her sons, kneeling down and asking something from Him.
21 And He said to her, “What do you wish?” She said to Him, “Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on the left, in Your kingdom.”
22 But Jesus answered and said, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” They said to Him, “We are able.”
23 So He said to them, “You will indeed drink My cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father.”
24 And when the ten heard it, they were greatly displeased with the two brothers. 25 But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. 26 Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant.
27 And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave—
28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

La Grandeza Se Encuentra En Servir A Los Demás

Mateo 20:20-28 (NVI)
20 Entonces la madre de los hijos de Zebedeo, junto con ellos, se acercó a Jesús y, arrodillándose, le pidió un favor.
21 —¿Qué quieres? —preguntó Jesús. Ella le dijo: —Ordena que en tu reino uno de estos dos hijos míos se siente a tu derecha y el otro a tu izquierda.
22 —Ustedes no saben lo que están pidiendo —respondió Jesús—. ¿Pueden acaso beber el trago amargo de la copa que yo voy a beber? —Sí, podemos.
23 —Les aseguro que beberán de mi copa —dijo Jesús—, pero el sentarse a mi derecha o a mi izquierda no me corresponde concederlo. Eso ya lo ha decidido mi Padre.
24 Cuando lo oyeron los otros diez, se indignaron con los dos hermanos.
25 Jesús los llamó y dijo: —Como ustedes saben, los gobernantes de las naciones oprimen al pueblo y los altos oficiales abusan de su autoridad.
26 Pero entre ustedes no debe ser así. Al contrario, el que quiera hacerse grande entre ustedes deberá ser su servidor
27 y el que quiera ser el primero deberá ser esclavo de los demás,
28 así como el Hijo del hombre no vino para que le sirvan, sino para servir y para dar su vida en rescate por muchos.

To Save the World

John 3:10-17 (NKJV)
10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things?
11 Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness.
12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?
13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Para Salvar El Mundo

Juan 3:10-17 (NVI)
10 ―Tú eres maestro de Israel, ¿y no entiendes estas cosas? —respondió Jesús—.
11 Te aseguro que hablamos de lo que sabemos y damos testimonio de lo que hemos visto personalmente, pero vosotros no aceptáis nuestro testimonio.
12 Si os he hablado de las cosas terrenales, y no creéis, ¿entonces cómo vais a creer si os hablo de las celestiales?
13 Nadie ha subido jamás al cielo sino el que descendió del cielo, el Hijo del hombre.
14 »Como levantó Moisés la serpiente en el desierto, así también tiene que ser levantado el Hijo del hombre,
15 para que todo el que crea en él tenga vida eterna.
16 »Porque tanto amó Dios al mundo que dio a su Hijo unigénito, para que todo el que cree en él no se pierda, sino que tenga vida eterna.
17 Dios no envió a su Hijo al mundo para condenar al mundo, sino para salvarlo por medio de él.

A Thorn In The Flesh

II Corinthians 12:7-10 (NKJV)

7 And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.
8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.
9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Una Espina en La Carne

2 Corintios 12:7-10 (NVI)

7 Para evitar que me volviera presumido por estas sublimes revelaciones, una espina me fue clavada en el cuerpo, es decir, un mensajero de Satanás, para que me atormentara.
8 Tres veces le rogué al Señor que me la quitara;
9 pero él me dijo: «Te basta con mi gracia, pues mi poder se perfecciona en la debilidad». Por lo tanto, gustosamente haré más bien alarde de mis debilidades, para que permanezca sobre mí el poder de Cristo.
10 Por eso me regocijo en las debilidades, insultos, privaciones, persecuciones y dificultades que sufro por Cristo; porque, cuando soy débil, entonces soy fuerte.

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,
20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,
21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Libertad en Cristo

Gálatas 5:19-26 (NVI)

19 Las obras de la carne se conocen bien: inmoralidad sexual, impureza y libertinaje;
20 idolatría y hechicería; odio, discordia, celos, arrebatos de ira, rivalidades, desacuerdos, sectarismos
21 y envidia; borracheras, orgías y otras cosas parecidas. Les advierto ahora, como antes lo hice, que los que practican tales cosas no heredarán el reino de Dios.
22 En cambio, el fruto del Espíritu es amor, alegría, paz, paciencia, amabilidad, bondad, fidelidad,
23 humildad y dominio propio. No hay ley que condene estas cosas.
24 Los que son de Cristo Jesús han crucificado la carne con sus pasiones y deseos.
25 Si el Espíritu nos da vida, andemos guiados por el Espíritu.
26 No dejemos que la vanidad nos lleve a provocarnos y a envidiarnos unos a otros.
