A Powerful Place

Word for the Way is a blog designed to give you a brief dose of God’s Word, the Bible — to encourage, to strengthen, and to prepare you for your daily walk in this thing we call life.

To me, this is an amazing photo. My daughter-in-law was playing the piano when her son, Milo, wanted to help. Someone recorded this moment in history by taking this wonderful photograph. In the photo you see the experienced hand of a mother and the young, inexperienced hands of her son.
Milo had a wonderful time learning that pressing (and at times hitting) the keys resulted in wonderful sounds coming from inside the piano. I have to be honest here. It didn’t always sound wonderful to my trained ear, but you get the point. I could tell by the smile on his face that he thought it sounded wonderful–and that’s what counts. This week’s memory verse: “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” —Psalm 100:4 KJV

I believe the Lord saved our lives yesterday. My son, Jeremy, his two sons, Danette, and I were driving to Nashville for Jeremy & Kasey’s wedding shower. Jeremy was driving. I’ll post his testimony as to what happened. Again, God’s providence took care of us. Continue reading “God’s Providence Comes Through Again”

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” –Jeremiah 29:11 [ESV]

In 1952, thirty-one year old Florence Chadwick stepped into the chilly waters of the Pacific Ocean to start the 26 mile swim from Catalina Island to the California coastline. This was an attempt to become the first woman to swim across this vast expanse of ocean. She was flanked by small boats whose occupants kept an eye out for sharks and were ready to come to her rescue should she be injured or should she grow weary and unable to continue the strenuous journey. Everyone that I know has at one point or another in their life experienced a time when the circumstances that they were facing appeared to be more than they could bear. It happens to all of us. Continue reading “Help In Time of Need”

Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton
A lot has been accomplished in the last 3 days. Bible Reading material is loaded that will cover through the first week in June. This part of the work is tedious, but I’m sure it will be well worth the effort. Kenny G is keeping me relaxed while I work.
I apologize for the ads. It appears I have met the quota for pages that triggered the “add ads” option. Right now I don’t have to pay anything to use WordPress to publish Word for the Way. The ads will only be removed when I choose to start on one of their pay plan options. I will do this in due time, just not today.

I completed the entry of all of Genesis and Exodus as well as the first 16 chapters of Psalms into the W4tW database yesterday. That means we have all of the Bible reading material for the month of January ready to go.
